Dr Francois Van Niekerk

Dr Francois Van Niekerk is an organisational leader at heart and brings to HVC leadership on multiple committees throughout his career, successful new initiatives such as the Ruminant Liaison Committee, TB and CA committee and is currently general secretary for the International Pig Veterinary Society. Dr Francois’s vast experience and knowledge of this area are invaluable to farmers and industry alike. Dr Pieter Jansen van Vuuren

Dr Pieter Jansen van Vuuren is a farmer at heart and brings to HVC an understanding of farming and the challenges faced by our farmers. His practical approach and many years of experience in this area are an asset to the farming community. He is also passionate about horses and equine care and has a special interest in equine reproduction. He is equally comfortable with small animals and is known for his caring approach.

Dr Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is a researcher at heart and brings to HVC a strong ‘investigative’ spirit. He launced the sporidesmin toxicity research programme in 2022 under the auspices of Milk SA to investigate the potential impact of this underestimated toxicity on the dairy industry. The project is multidisciplinary and includes expert mycologists, chemists and pathologists – all working to deepen our understanding of this condition. Anthony loves the outdoors, loves the rural environment and is comfortable working with all animals one could encounter on the ‘platteland’.

Dr Annelise Barker

Dr Annelies Barker is a carer at heart and brings to HVC compassionate care, a knowledge base continually fed by congress attendance, reading up and discussing cases with colleagues. She needs no introduction, having spent 40 years in the area. She is well-known to many people who have been assisted by her careful attention to the needs of her patients.
